College of the Rockies Summit Hall
The new Academic Building is situated between the existing Main Building and the street, where connecting the two buildings would be least disruptive and enhance the look of the campus. The architectural treatment of the College’s second-floor finance department provides a distinct character to this building as one approaches the College.
This compact building houses nursing “simulation labs” and a 50 seat multi-tiered classroom in addition to general-purpose classrooms, seminar rooms, tutorial rooms, and instructors’ offices. At the heart of the Academic Building is a two-storey atrium with an open stairway, a “lantern” roof, and a prominently displayed replica of a traditional native “sturgeon nose” canoe.
