POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a lead technologist/designer and an architectural project manager to lead and manage a variety of institutional projects including education, childcare, fire, ambulance, police, courthouse, long-term care and other community facilities. Our projects often include: mass timber, NetZero and other enhanced sustainability targets, enhanced accessibility, inclusion and diversity. We invest in our staff through paid education, conferences, and extended health benefits. This position has the possibility of developing into an associate/leadership position with the firm.
Salary Range: $75,000 to $130,000 for Sr. Architects and Sr. Technologist,

Required Skills

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and coordinate construction drawings and specifications,
  • Assist with community engagement under the direction of the principal-in-charge in all project phases
  • Prepare and manage municipal permit applications, including rezoning, development permits, and building permits
  • Perform document quality control checks
  • Coordinate sub-consultants and lead project coordination meetings
  • Prepare presentation materials using 3D software
  • Research materials and technical details through library and manufacturers websites
  • Assist in the review of shop drawings
  • Work independently on small projects and/or manage a design team within our firm on large projects
  • Contribute to discussions on office standards and quality control

REQUIREMENTS

The right candidate will have:

  • A combination of talent and technical skills in design projects combined with the drive to excel
  • At least 5 to 10 years of Canadian experience within an architectural firm
  • Architectural degree or Building Science Technology diploma
  • Proficiency in REVIT, 3D modeling, and detailing
  • Construction documentation (working drawings) experience, including coordination
  • Experience with sub-consultant/project team coordination
  • The ability to work well as a team member and independently
  • Working knowledge of the BC Building Code
  • A high degree of attention to detail
  • Experience with sustainable design (LEED, Passive House, GHG reduction, NetZero)
  • Experience/familiarity with specification writing.
  • Solid understanding of building envelope detailing

POSITION OVERVIEW
The Proposal Writer is an excellent communicator and writer, and a creative thinker who is keen to grow our firm. Reporting to the firm’s Principals, the successful candidate will lead our pursuit process and manage multiple concurrent marketing initiatives. In this role you will:

  • Lead the creation and production of proposals and expressions of interest.
  • Lead marketing activities and strategies, including website, social media accounts, and media releases
  • Source, analyze and track potential opportunities in KMBR’s marketplaces and prepare synopses for go-no-go
  • Review and gain a thorough understanding of the bid opportunity to write appropriately tailored proposals
  • Work with the Principals, to produce presentation materials and prepare the team for interviews
  • Organize photoshoots of completed projects
  • Attend conferences and other events to build and maintain relationship with clients and consultants
  • Track opportunities for architectural awards, and manage the submission process

Salary Range: $70,000 – 120,000 – This position has the possibility of developing into an associate/leadership position with the firm

Required Skills

REQUIREMENTS

The right candidate will have:

  • At least 3 years experience as a Proposal Writer/Marketing Specialist preferably with an architectural firm.
  • A Bachelors degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications or a related field would be an asset.
  • A demonstrated understanding of KMBR’s market sectors and of client relations.
  • Extensive experience in proposal preparation and management: highly skilled in content structure
  • Graphic layout skills and proficiency with InDesign
  • Excellent command of English
  • Excellent writing, editing, and researching skills
  • A high degree of attention to detail (accuracy, proofreading, spelling, grammar, consistency)
  • Excellent organizational skills and experience handling multiple priorities and competing deadlines
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as within a team environment.
  • The ability to work with ease in a dynamic, fast-paced workplace, and coordinating and motivating multiple contributors, many of whom are senior management
  • A desire to network, source new work opportunities, and develop new client relationships is an asset.

POSITION OVERVIEW
As construction administrator, you will work independently but in close communication with the lead designer and/or principal-in-charge to guide institutional projects through the construction phase.

In this role you will:

  • Review construction documents
  • Review and respond to contractor schedules, RFIs, change orders, shop drawings, etc.
  • Liaise with the principal in charge and the architectural design team, as well as the project manager or owner’s representative
  • Perform field reviews and attend both online and on-site construction meetings
  • Coordinate with Consultants and Authorities Having Jurisdiction
  • Provide feedback from the field (lessons learned) to improve staff knowledge
  • Contribute to discussions on office standards and quality control

Salary Range: $80,000 to $130,000 – This position has the possibility of developing into an associate/leadership position with the firm.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience with small or large institutional or commercial projects delivered under either a stip sum (CCDC 2)
  • contract or construction management (CCDC 5) contract
  • Experience with construction phase contract administration and site reviews
  • Either an architectural degree or Technologist Diploma or appropriate alternative qualification
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Experience with Revit, R-Form, Microsoft Teams, and Procore are an asset.
  • Good working knowledge of building codes and envelope details
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • The ability to remain calm in tense situations and to work under pressure
  • Excellent time management skills
