Douglas College – Anvil Centre

With the continued growth of Douglas College’s student body, a new campus was opened to provide spaces for its degree, post-degree, and diploma programs. Douglas College Anvil Centre opened in 2018. Collectively, the space accommodates 1120 students and 21 employees with designs that can expand for future growth. The campus spans four floors and includes 21 new classrooms, a host of new student collaboration spaces and a simulation lab. This space is designed with flexible collaboration rooms that transition to the needs of individual instructors, and can be used for quiet study or group projects for students and faculty and is home to administration offices.

This expansion helps Douglas College continue to provide the education and training students need to open the doors of opportunity. Our design reflects the College’s commitment to excellence and follows modern learning concepts that focus on flexibility, creativity, and innovation. As this space is separate from Douglas College’s main campus, it was important the design aligned closely with the Douglas College refreshed branding and promoted interaction within the larger college community.

I love it. It’s beautiful. It feels really fresh. There’s an energy here. I love all the open space for students, and I’m really, really happy with how it turned out.”
