Comox Valley Regional District Administration Building

Completed in early 2020, the design of the new CVRD administration building features extensive use of glass and open workstations along the perimeter to maximize daylight and views. Shading devices are incorporated to control heat gain, and wood is integrated into both the structural and aesthetic components to create a visually stunning design while at the same time offering a durable and cost-effective solution.

Working together with the municipality, we uncovered that staff well-being was one of the most important considerations. As such, we developed a design that gives staff a space that promotes health and wellness by increasing the amount of natural day-light, and encouraging physical activity through the incorporating an open staircase, a shower facility, and adequate parking for bicycles. The overall aesthetic approach incorporates biomimicry, using natural finishes such as wood to improve the human experience. Visit the CVRD website to learn more about the new building.
