BC Nurses’ Union Education Centre
The B.C. Nurses’ Union (BCNU), located at 4060 Regent Street, serves 32,000 members who work and live in all corners of the Province. KMBR designed and constructed the original Union Building which was completed in 1999. With the continued growth of its membership, the BC Nurses Union required more space to enhance operations. KMBR provided design and planning services to improve the effectiveness of the existing facility and offer a new, focused space in the addition. Of particular importance was the facility entrance; together with BCNU, we developed a design that is welcoming, inclusive and professional reflecting the values of the union and its members. Included in the renovation and addition was the planning and design of two floors of offices, multiple meeting rooms, a large board room, underground parking, a lunchroom, an exercise room, a copy room, and a mailroom. On this project, planning was essential to streamline and enhance workflow.
