Argyle Secondary School

Argyle Secondary School, centrally located in Lynn Valley, North Vancouver, is a two storey building for 1300 students.  It is designed to incorporate 21st century learning. The abundant use of wood featured throughout the building, with nail laminated timber ceilings and glue-laminated columns, connects the building to the forested site which is situated near the base of Mt. Fromme.

Aspiring to reach LEED Gold certification, Argyle Secondary connects occupants to nature and Kilmer creek through an abundance of exterior glazing.  Our team designed Argyle Secondary to adapt to multiple uses through the use of operable walls and large overhead doors. The technology and arts community is an example of a very flexible space which also provides access to outdoor learning. Small learning communities are located throughout the building; each including learning studios, science labs, break-out rooms, and teacher-prep areas. These areas allow for collaborative learning while also having the ability to be closed off into separate learning spaces.

Along with the regular school occupants, Argyle is also open to the community with year-round use of the gymnasium and turf field.

The school opened in January 2021.  Take a virtual tour.
