SFU CELLTR
The goal of this project was to design a space that supported the English as an Additional Language program, faculty and student research and promote knowledge sharing for all members of the SFU community. The CELLTR also wanted to develop its existing brand both visually and spatially by tying into its diverse community of students and its holistic and proactive approach to innovative, research-based teaching and learning practices. To support these goals our design features:
- A graphical representation of the CELLTR community mosaic accomplished through colour selection and wall graphics.
- Open and glazed spaces enabling visible connection within the building’s circulation spaces.
- An emphasized glazed entrance, which brands CELLTR and encourages engagement with the campus population.
- Open, flexible spaces with demountable walls and movable partitions to support spatial agility and foster multipurpose use, multiple learning modalities, research, social connection, technology, and knowledge sharing. Mobile and fixed furnishings of different heights and configurations to provide individuals and groups with varying levels of privacy.
- Glazed, writable and acoustic wall surfaces.
