Port Moody Public Safety Building
After completing a planning study KMBR designed a new public safety building for the City of Port Moody to accommodate three public safety agencies: The Port Moody Police Department with a staff of 80, the Canadian Pacific Railway Police, and the BC Ambulance Services with a four-bay ambulance station. A 93m2 emergency operations centre will also serve the City in the event of natural disaster. The building program is organized around a central three-storey sky-lit atrium fostering a sense of community and providing natural daylight to the occupied spaces close to the core. This building is designed to post-disaster seismic standards. Design is to LEED® Silver equivalent utilizing sustainable strategies such as ground source heating/cooling, high efficiency electrical and mechanical systems, green building materials, and daylighting strategies.
