North Delta Public Safety – Fire Hall and Police Station
The building accommodates fire and police departments under one roof, allowing for sharing of facilities, which fosters improved communication between the two departments, resulting in economies of scale in building, site, and operating costs. A glazed two-storey atrium embodies the theme of public accessibility and transparency of government services. The building is a key component of the “Nordel Social Heart” plan for urban renewal, and along with a number of other public amenities forms the nucleus of North Delta’s civic centre. This building offers full living quarters and is occupied 24/7, has a two-bay fire hall with 50-foot hose tower, Draft Pit, Vehicle Extraction Pad, enables high angle rescue training, and is designed to post-disaster seismic standards.
