Lions Gate Hospital – Atrium Case Study
As part of the High-Level Master Plan of Lions Gate Hospital, the Lobby / Atrium space and some of its adjacent spaces in the Northern Expansion building are to be updated. The study considers specific components of the atrium including LGH Atrium – a distinct, public, collective identity space for the LGH Campus as it requires significant updating; the North Entrance – to be expanded to allow for vestibules and waiting areas; the Main Atrium Stair – to be moved South to allow a central area for the Atrium; skylights – to bring natural light into Atrium; circulation and flow – with specific consideration for the café which currently creates a bottleneck at the North Entry; mechanical Upgrade – A significant aspect of the Atrium planning will be reviewing the mechanical capacity of the base building as mechanical upgrading is to be expected.
