UNBC Student Centre
Prince George, British Columbia

Awards:
2009 Northern Building Awards - Community Education

This project comprises the renovation and conversion of the 1868m² fitness centre to the new Student Centre. This project received $200,000 of funding from the Olympic Live Sites Program. This program funds partial costs for the development of Olympic viewing venue projects. The renovations turned 20,000 square feet of existing space into a new student centre with live site viewing equipment. The facility is open to all members of the university and the Prince George community and is expected to draw 103,000 people annually. During the Games, the entire area was dedicated as a venue to watch and participate in the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Included in the project are the Northern Undergraduate Student Society executive offices and board room, student clubs, the CFUR radio station, Over the Edge newspaper, the Public Interest Research Group study hall, lounges, an events space and a pub.
