Tilbury Fire Hall No.7
Delta, British Columbia
Operated by Delta's all-career Fire Department, this 643m² facility is occupied on a 24/7 basis. As such it includes full dormitories and living quarters for a squadron of six, with built-in expansion opportunities for a crew size of eight. A 50-foot tower provides training facilities for the entire Delta Fire Department. The design emphasizes high quality materials and structural systems, low maintenance and energy efficiency with an aesthetic to complement the industrial setting.
The building incorporates green design principles including natural ventilation, access to views and daylight, energy efficient mechanical and electrical systems, and environmentally sensitive materials. The design allows for a third apparatus bay to be added in the future.
Designed to post-disaster seismic standards, this hall required colonnaded rock piling.
