Okanagan College Trades & Technology Master Planning

KMBR Architects Planners Inc., in association with Bevanda Architecture, was engaged to prepare a master plan for expansion/renovation for the trades and technology zone of the Kelowna campus.

The need to relocate off-site programs to the Kelowna Campus, the pent-up demand for enrolment in trades programs, the desire to create new programs, and the anticipation of continuing growth in trades enrolment together has formed the parameters for this planning study. At the same time, some program spaces were underutilized and were in need of reconfiguration.

The planning solution that has emerged makes use of the site through infill and densification while leaving flexibility for expansion. Functional relationships between programs (17 in total) and between the trades zone and the rest of campus phasing plan provides the College with a strategic framework for managing growth and raising funds.
