Maplewood House Intermediate Care Home
Abbotsford, British Columbia

The MSA Manor Society commissioned KMBR to design this 75-bed facility. Special consideration was given in the design for respecting the concerns of neighbouring residents on the visual impact of the project. The building program also required that one third of the beds be designated for persons with progressive degenerative dementing illnesses such as Alzheimer’s.

The design provides a warm, spacious environment for residents and staff, with a building exterior that integrates well with the surrounding neighbourhood. Set back on the site among 25-metre high fir trees, the building features large overhangs and windows, a prominent roof line and a generous front porch area.
