College of the Rockies South Entrance Expansion
Cranbrook, British Columbia
The College of the Rockies south entrance expansion is comprised of two phases consisting of approximately 2200m² of new construction and renovation. The expansion of the Kootenay Centre will create four additional, hi-tech classrooms, a student lounge and offices on the lower level; and a new reception area and grand foyer space on the main level that will serve as the main entrance, student lounge and gathering space. Phase two of the project will consist of major renovations around the existing atrium and south wing to accommodate moving student services, financial aid and admissions/registration to "front-of-house" - in order to provide improved services for the public and students as well as, consolidating and streamlining student services by creating a-one-stop shop. The expansion and renovations will also support the incorporation of the University of Victoria's Elementary Teacher Education program into the Kootenay Centre. Phase one and two are due for completion by spring of 2011.
The new south entrance expansion’s visitor arrival point will be defined by a new landscaped plaza that helps create an iconic, clearly defined main entry - the interior of which will be a comfortable and welcoming focal point and central hub for the college and broader community. |
