Comox Valley Regional Administration Building

The design features extensive use of glass and open workstations along the perimeter to maximize daylight and views. Shading devices are incorporated to control heat gain and wood is integrated into both the structural and aesthetic components to create a visually stunning design while at the same time offering a durable and cost-effective solution.

Working together with the municipality, we uncovered that staff well-being is one of the most important considerations. As such we have developed a design that will provide staff with a space that promotes health and wellness. To achieve this, we are focusing on increasing the amount of natural day-light, designing to promote activity by incorporating an open staircase, a shower facility and adequate parking for bicycles. The overall aesthetic approach incorporates biomimicry; using natural finishes like wood and water to improve the human experience.
